Coleslaw (Ruthie's) 8/25/2015

  1. 1 small head of cabbage (or 1 package of cabbage for coleslaw)
  2. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  3. 1 carrot
  4. 1 tsp. of salt
  5. 1 tsp. of pepper
  6. 1/4 cup of white vinegar (or less to taste)
  7. 3 tbsps. of sugar
  8. 3/4 cup of mayonnaise
  9. 3/4 cup of sour cream
  10. a few drops of vegetable oil


1. Shred the cabbage.

2. Finely grate a small onion.

3. Finely shred the carrot.

4. In medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, grated onion, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Stir until combined and smooth.

5. Pour over cabbage and toss well. Taste and adjust seasonings according to your own taste.

5. Refrigerate for an hour minimum. You may need several attempts to determine how long you like the cabbage to absorb the mixture.
